Kohima, Oct 17 (MExN): The NSCN (K) has strongly refuted the news item appearing in a section of the local print media on Monday wherein it was reported that ‘Lt’ Hopson of the NSCN (IM) was shot dead by the rival NSCN faction for failure to pay the demanded amount of Rs.10,000.
In a statement issued by its Military Spokesman, Isak Sumi, the NSCN (K) termed the allegation as “misguiding and totally baseless with the intention to malign the image of the NSCN”.
The statement insisted that the NSCN (K) cadres never had the intention either to extort or to kill and that they had merely asked Hopson to “come along” with them for questioning. However, after he tried to flee, the cadres had to shoot him, the statement added.
