Dimapur, Nov 26 (MExN): The NSCN-K has asked frontline Naga organizations to intervene and raise objections to the boundary demarcation exercise between the Government of India and the Myanmar junta for which a meeting is to commence from November 27 between the two countries. The organization stated that it is the bounden duty of the Nagas to raise objections to the issue since “freedom fighters” have been raising the matter right from the beginning.
“As per newspaper reports, official-level meetings between India and Myanmar are holding four days parley starting from 27th November, 2006 on the so-called India-Myanmar boundary pillars issue. The so-called Indo-Myanmar boundary touches the entire Manipur and Nagaland states” stated NSCN-K Kilonser AZ Jami in a statement. It asserted that the said boundary demarcation was undertaken in 1953 by former Indian Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Lt. U Nu arbitrarily without the consent and knowledge of the Nagas and the Meiteis. “The worst affected were the Nagas” Jami maintained.
In this case, it is the bounden duty of “so-called Naga NGOs” like the Naga Hoho, NSF, NPMHR, UNC and ANSAM to raise strong objections to the move. “The Nagas in Nagaland and Manipur should submit strong worded representation to both the Government of India and Myanmar that under no circumstances the Nagas would allow India and Myanmar to divide the land of the Nagas between themselves arbitrarily. There should also be a rally by the Nagas in Delhi against this arbitrary act of India and Myanmar”, the Kilonser urged adding that the United Nations should also be apprised of the matter “again and again”. Asking why Naga NGOs are indulging in “dirty partisan politics”, the Kilonser asserted that the mentioned issue should not be neglected. “The freedom fighters have been raising this issue before India and Burma right from the beginning” the NSCN-K added.
