DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28 (MExN): The NSCN (R) today terminated the services of its Defense Kilonser cum UT1 Supervisor, Khekato Kinny and Deputy Kilonser, Chingshi Longkumer for having been allegedly “involved” in the August 16 firing incident in Dimapur wherein Lt Col Toishe Yeptho of the NSCN (IM) was killed.
The decision to terminate their services was taken by the NSCN (R) through the directive of the President which called for an ‘Extraordinary Emergency Joint Council Meeting’ on August 28. A press release from the MIP of the NSCN (R) informed that the meeting found the two officials to be “involved” in the August 16 incident.
“Through the unanimous decision of the House, the office of the President, terminates (with immediate effect) the above mentioned erring officials, so as to let the Law take its own course and to facilitate a 'Free and Fair' trail,” it stated.
The NSCN (R) meanwhile said that the three other persons allegedly involved in the same incident, “are not our boys,” and “hence the NSCN (R) cannot decide upon them.” “It is up to the prerogative of the law enforcing agency(s) and competent authorities, to enforce action on them.
The NSCN (R) further made clear that it would “neither condone nor abet crime or criminals and along with every other Naga deeply regrets the incident that happened on August 16 which took away one precious life and our heart also goes out to the aggrieved family members.”
It further affirmed its earlier stance to “take action upon any NSCN (R) members, irrespective of rank, file or status but as according to the National Ahza and party discipline.”
