Kohima, June 3 (MExN): The Nagaland State Dental Council (NSDC) has issued a slew of directives for strict adherence by dental clinics and hospitals in the state, including the maintenance of clinical records and ethical practices.
According to the directives, all dental clinics and hospitals must maintain clinical records of all patients attended for at least two years, as envisaged in the Revised Dentists Regulations (Code of Ethics) 2014 of the Dental Council of India. This measure is aimed at keeping track of all clinical activities in the event of litigations or other legal proceedings, the NSDC stated.
Furthermore, it directed all dentists or dental practitioners to strictly follow Ethical Practice guidelines by conducting procedures or treatments according to one's qualification and expertise. Any deviation from this, such as performing procedures beyond one's qualification or certification, may attract penalties as per the Code of Ethics 2014.
These directives were issued as resolved in the NSDC annual meeting held on March 18, and non-compliance could invite punitive actions from the council, the notification issued by Dr. Imtiwabang Pongener, Registrar cum Secretary, NSDC, emphasized.
"All are requested to comply with utmost sincerity to avoid any legal wrangling and proceedings," it added.
