Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, will conduct a Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) consisting of a “mega mock exercise” all over the State on August 30.
A communiqué from the NSDMA requested the public not to panic and to cooperate with the authorities for smooth conduct of the mock exercise. “Such drills/exercise have proven to be most useful as they increase awareness as well as equips the citizens to respond appropriately during times of actual disasters,” it informed. The NSDMA, however, did not specify what activities are included in the mega mock exercise.
Further, the NSDMA clarified on the rumor of an impending earthquake in the State - as circulated in various social media platforms- that has been confused with the upcoming NEPEx. “The public is requested not to pay heed to such rumors but stay alert and vigilant as we work towards a safer and resilient Nagaland,” it stated.
