NSF clarifies on vehicle ban

Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation today clarified that the  ban on the movement of  ‘Manipur registration vehicles’ within Naga-inhabited areas was meant to “reciprocate its resentment against the Manipur government for not allowing the NSF official free passage.” The NSF’s response was stated to be to an article carried in the media “whereby the NSF name has been implicated.” A note from the NSF’s general secretary did not explain in what way  its “name has been implicated.”

“The NSF ban on the movement of the Manipur registration  vehicle within the Naga  inhabited area was purely meant to reciprocate its resentment against the Manipur government for not  allowing the NSF official free passage to the call of its people who were inflicted to the extreme under the imposition of the draconian law and to ascertain the on-going preparation for the 3rd federal assembly which was pre-scheduled for the 7th of May 2010 at Oinam Hill village under Senapati district.”

The Naga Students’ Federation asserted that “since” its inception it has been “ushering for the cause of the younger generation in particular and the Nagas in general,” ‘safeguarding the “rights and aspiration” of the Naga society.’ “The federation as a social organization is fully committed to the cause of the people and appeal to all the section of the society to extend its support in pursuing any pertinent issue within its jurisdiction at any given situation which is in the interest of the Naga society,” the NSF note added.
