Kohima, June 9 (MExN): The Naga Students' Federation has vehemently condemned the ‘brutal’ act of the Manipur Rifles and the Delhi Police on the peaceful tribal protestors at Manipur Bhawan, New Delhi on June 7.
“The barbaric act of the Manipur Rifles and Delhi Police is a clear sign of vengeances meted out to the unarmed peaceful protestors of Manipur Tribal Forum Delhi (MTFD)," the NSF said in a statement issued by its President Subenthung Kithan and general secretary Bovio Poukai Duo.
The Federation is extremely pained to see the inhuman harassment meted out to the tribal of Manipur, it added.
NSF further alleged that hundreds of protestors were seriously hurt. Four young mothers were indiscriminately assaulted and also molested, it claimed.
The dealing of the situation clearly shows the incapability of the men in uniform and also lack of sincerity by the Government of Manipur, NSF maintained. “The barbaric act and the high handedness of the Manipur Rifles and Delhi Police personnel should be condemn by all in strongest term.”
The Federation further extended its solidarity to “all people who are fighting for the tribal rights in Manipur.”
