Kohima | June 11 : Acknowledging the hard work and achievement of the students, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today felicitated Naga toppers in the last HSLC examinations by organizing a grand function here at the LCS Building.
Speaking on the occasion as guest speaker, C. Khalong Ao, principal, Kohima College congratulated the toppers and urged upon them to take the challenges ahead, adding that more achievement are waiting for them. He maintained that one will get everything in life when one possesses confidence, determination and discipline. “Excellence does not come to you. You have to snatch it,” he said and urged upon the toppers to work hard.
“Do not think you are inferior to other community,” he said and asked them to have faith, adding “unless you have faith you cannot achieve anything.” Stating that just reading syllabus is not enough, the principal urged upon them to go beyond the text book and syllabus and also encouraged them to make reading as a habit.
He also urged upon the students to turn knowledge into wisdom at the same time human resource into human capital. He also stressed on the need to pay special attention towards creativity and also have vision and dream to compete with others and excel in their respective fields.
NSF president Kelhouneizo Yhome said the toppers have brought proud and glory to the Naga society. Yhome was optimistic that their success will definitely produce a good fruit to the Naga society.
Stating that they have already cross one stage of life, he said that it is now upon the individual responsibility and decision to pursue further studies and fulfil their desired dreams. Also speaking on the occasion, NSF former president Mutsikhoyi Yhobu called upon the students to choice the right path in their further academic career.
Urging the students to continue to work hard so as to secure a bright future, Yhobu asserted the choice is now with the students whether they would spend leisure time for 6 to 7 years and live in miserable condition or struggle hard for 6 to 7 years and find comfortable life for 40 to 50 years. Stating that the toppers have brought proud to their families, tribes and Naga people in general, NSF former finance secretary Kapani also called upon them to face more challenges ahead, and also put more efforts to reach their desired goal.
Yimkum I. Ozukum who spoke on behalf of toppers said that they were overwhelmed by the level of encouragement from the NSF and thanked the Federation for organizing such programme for them. Besides awarding certificate to all toppers, the NSF also acknowledged Hemei for his success in the HSLC examination and inked as the first matriculate from his village so far. Hamei, was a student of NSF’s run school. The Federation also lauded Kapani for his valuable contribution towards such achievement.
Earlier, the function was chaired by Chipakhuyi Rhakho while NSF general secretary N. Ejanthung Ngullie delivered welcome address. Imli Jamir and Shenieta Curha presented special number. The function concluded with vote of thanks by R.S. Jollyson, speaker NSF Federal Assembly.
