NSF unrelenting on job demand

Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): Reiterating its unrelenting stand over the retirement age of state government employees, the Naga Students Federation (NSF) today clarified that it has not submitted any representation to state government supporting the demand of the government employees and it would not allow enhancement of the retirement age without fixing the maximum length of government service.

The NSF, in a press statement issued by its President, Imchatoba Imchen, ridiculed the appreciation expressed by the All HOD Association and the Nagaland Civil Service Association to the state government for enhancing the superannuation age to sixty years as was advertised in the local dailies on November 17, and said that the it held no water since the NSF had in no way submitted representation in written  to state government in support of the demand made by the government employees.

“As a matter of fact, the NSF have stated clearly time and again that the enhancement of superannuation age from 57 to whatever the age and 35 years as upper age limit for  entry into Govt  service is not at all the subject matter of NSF,” the NSF President declared.  Imchatoba said that the core issue that revolves around the superannuation age is to fix 33 years as length of service.

Giving reasons for the Federations’ stand, Imchatoba pointed out that many employees could tamper their age beyond human comprehension following the Guwahati High Court decision which subjectively quashed the length of service as pleaded by CANSSEA in 1995 for retirement from service.

“The NSF is fully convinced and prepared that no matter what; we shall not allow enhancing the retirement age without fixing the maximum length of service,” said Imchatoba.  In this regard, the NSF appealed to all the sensible employees to vacate the chair considering the plight of the younger generation as they have already served sufficient years in service.
