Chümoukedima, March 12 (MExN): Matchday 13 of the ongoing Nagaland Super League (NSL) at Chümoukedima Football Stadium was abandoned on Tuesday due to severe weather conditions, with matches rescheduled for Wednesday.
According to a communiqué from the NSL Governing Body, heavy downpours accompanied by severe lightning struck the stadium floodlights, causing damage to the stadium’s infrastructure.
As a result, the ongoing match between Nagaland United Sports Club (NUSC) and Longterok Football Club (FC) was called off.
The match was initially suspended for 30 minutes to allow for technical repairs, in line with AIFF regulations. However, after the stipulated stoppage period, the referee declared the match abandoned due to unresolvable technical issues, the communiqué added.
Longterok FC was leading 1-0 when the matched was officially abandoned.
As per the NSL communiqué, the match between NUSC and Longterok FC will recommence at 9 AM on March 13, 2025, at the same venue. It will resume from the exact minute and second at which play was stopped, maintaining the same score, original players, substitutes list, sanctions imposed, and other match conditions.
The second match of the day, between Barak FC and 27 United FC, which could not be played due to weather condition, has been rescheduled for 12:30 PM on March 13, also at Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
Matchday tickets for March 12 will remain valid for the recommencement and rescheduled matches on March 13.
The extent of the damage to the stadium will be fully assessed by technical engineers and the facility’s implementing company over the next 48 hours, the NSL Governing Body informed.
It further confirmed that the rest of the NSL schedule remains unchanged.
Expressing regret for the inconvenience caused, NSL Governing Body member Lanutoshi Yaden extended appreciation to the fans, stakeholders, and sports followers for their patience and support during this unexpected situation.
