NSRLM conducts refresher training prog for Bank Sakhi

The Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) has conducted a two-day state level refresher training programme for Bank Sakhi from October 12 to 13 last at Mt Tabor Retreat Centre.

This programme, held as a part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, was attended by 67 Bank Sakhi from 11 districts.

Speaking at the programme, Joint Secretary Rural Development and Mission Director NSRLM, Imtimenla urged upon the Bank Sakhi to continue to do the good work in helping the community on financial inclusion.

She expressed happiness that the Bank Sakhi are now placed into various bank institutions across the state and assisting the community pertaining to opening of Bank account, bank transactions etc.

She also requested the bank institutions to continue to utilize the service of Bank Sakhi and at the same time asked Bank Sakhi to give priority on enrolment of insurance facilities and bank credit linkages.

She announced that another 31 bank Sakhi wil be trained by NSRLM.

Two bank officials from State Bank of India (SBI) Kezhochol Rhetso and Imliwati spoke at the programme.

The programme was coordinated by Rajuselie Lhousa, State Programme Manager, SMMU.

The two-day refresher training programme touched on scaling up SHG bank linkage, 100% regular repayment of SHG loans and financial literacy.

Who is a Bank Sakhi? 
A Bank Sakhi (Customer Relationship Manager) is a women Self Help Group (SHG) member, assigned to sit in the bank branch to assists SHGs and its members complete different types of transactions like opening of saving bank account, deposit, withdrawal from the saving bank account, do preliminary scrutiny, help filling up the loan application, complete documentation work etc.

The objective of the initiative is to reduce the work load of the bank staff as well as assists the SHGs’ members in various bank-related activities.
