NSRLM empowers villagers through ICRP round

Mon, August 19 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), Chen RD Block in Mon district is carrying out Internal Community Resource Persons (ICRP) round - village stay program, comprising of two teams at Chingkao Chingnyu and Chenmoho village since August 12.  

During the entry point mobilization program at Chingkao Chingnyu on August 15, Rajuselie Lhousa, District Program Coordinator, Mon (FI), NSRLM, Mon said that the ICRP round is aimed at institution building and capacity building (IB&CB) by mobilizing the women to form Self Help Groups (SHGs) amongst neighbors ‘yopi’. All the necessary trainings will be provided to the SHGs.

Rajuselie, according to a press release, further stated that the vision is to reduce poverty by enabling the poor households to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities resulting in appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis through building strong and sustainable grassroots’ institutions of the poor.  

Advantages of ICRP include informal learning and leadership development, he said. It is village-centered and primarily for the lesser privileged section of the society.  

Rajuselie further assured that within a short span of time the community will enjoy a bank-type institution in the village.  

Through the programme, it is expected that the public will achieve better and comfortable living standard in terms of economy, road, power, health, education, business, technology etc. and make the village a center of the world.  

He appealed to the women to sincerely and honestly put their learning from the ICRP round into practice so as to come at par with other communities.  

It was informed that National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) or Aajeevika, also known as Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (DAY-NRLM), is a World Bank funded program and implemented by Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), GoI.  

Chingkao Chingnyu, located 65 Km from Mon Town, has a total of 557 households with a population of 3700.
