Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): The NSS-Unit, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) conducted a special camp from January 31 to February 6, under the theme “Environment Care”. The camp was inaugurated by H. Epao, Principal of the College. In his inaugural speech, Epao encouraged the members of NSS to keep the campus scraps free, hygienic and healthy, absorb themselves in innovative and constructive social work, and to serve the people. Bendangnungsang, Programme Officer, NSS, along with 90 volunteers attended the camp to create a healthy-environment having healthy surroundings with youthful vigor and strength, stated a press note issued by Bendangnungsang, programme officer, NSS of Patkai.
The first two days of the camp was of programme reviewing and meetings with the leaders of NSS and one day was keep aside for the seminar session. The topics and speakers for the seminar session were Angel Sonari, Dept. of Zoology, Patkai Christian College on the theme topic “Environment Care” and programme officer, PCC on “Aims and Objectives of NSS” have spoken and encouraged the campers attended. One-day sightseeing programme was organized under the activity of the camp where campers were taken in and around Dimapur under the guidance of Programme Officer. The activity of the previously mentioned camp included cleanliness drive and installation of Iron benches and sintex dustbin in the college campus and adopted village of Patkai NSS-Unit. The NSS-Unit of Patkai Christian College have installed nine iron benches and 11 Sintex dustbins in the college campus and one iron bench at Govt. Middle School, Seithekema ‘C’ village. The head GB of the village welcome the good work done by the NSS-Unit of Patkai for the school and village in general.
