KOHIMA, JANUARY 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA) organized a farewell program on January 29 at the Secretariat Conference Hall to honor 11 officers of the 1990 NSS Batch, set to retire in 2025.

Speaking on behalf of the retiring officers, Neikeduolie, Joint Secretary of the Finance Department, expressed gratitude to the NSSA for organizing the event and to the Nagaland government for recognizing their contributions. Reflecting on their careers, he noted that the 1990 batch entered the NSS service through the NPSC examination and, over 35 years, advanced from clerical positions to first-class officers. He highlighted their experiences working under both pre-statehood and post-statehood officers who served as mentors.

Neikeduolie urged association members to remember that their appointments and postings are made in the public interest. He encouraged mutual respect among officers, reminding them that all entered service through the NPSC examination. Addressing senior officers, he called for courage in decision-making and advised junior officers to cultivate regularity, sincerity, and efficiency. He also emphasized the importance of protecting government regulations and resolving internal matters through dialogue rather than public disclosures.

Johnny Humtsoe, Additional Secretary of the Rural Development Department, speaking on behalf of NSSA, described the occasion as a “red-letter day” for the association, marking a shift in government recognition of the NSSA’s role. He commended the 1990 batch for their discipline, honesty, and steadfastness, acknowledging their behind-the-scenes contributions.

NSSA President Chubasangla Longkumer praised the retiring officers for their dedication and encouraged association members to learn from their experiences. She highlighted the batch’s selfless guidance during the cadre review process, which benefited current members despite not directly affecting the retirees. She urged them to continue contributing to society in their next chapter of life.

Vice President E. Longphyo Kikon chaired the programme and delivered the closing remarks. The 53rd NSS Batch presented a special song in honor of the retirees.

The retiring officers include Secretary Y. Renbonthung Tsopoe (AH&VS); Joint Secretaries Tsobahu Rhakho (Soil & Water Conservation), Zanbeni Odyuo (Finance), Neikeduolie (Finance), Kekhrieselie Mepfhu-o (N&RE), Margaret Kerhu-o (Home), and Senlo Tep (Home); Joint Secretary C. Danted Phom (Land Revenue); Deputy Secretaries Thupusa Nienu (Environment, Forest & Climate Change) and Noune-e Keri (H&FW); and Secretariat Assistant Chumula Sangtam (AH&VS).
