Naga Students’ Union Delhi launches official website

New Delhi, May 12 (MExN): The Naga Students' Union Delhi (NSUD) organised the 57th Nagas Meet under the theme, "Lest We Lose Our Collective Future" on May 7 with the attendance of over 1500 Nagas from across different parts of Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR).

“All of us are conscience keepers and that is where the whole conviction that we have for the future will come out,” Niketu Iralu categorically stated, addressing the Meet as the theme speaker.

To this end, he opined that the NSUD has undertaken a very important initiative by calling Nagas to converse honestly with one another “given the wounding and hurting of one another that we have done.”

‘We have provoked the worst out of one another and the revenge and the counter-revenge are going out of control we are all deeply concerned about,' he said.

Augmenting the same, Dr Lanusangla Tzudir asserted that if the Nagas of the 21st Century continue to conduct their affairs based on “old politics of fear, exclusion and negative reactivity towards each other, the dream for a collective future will have difficulties in transcending divisions that separate us.”

Accordingly, she reminded the gathering that "any transformative and affirmative initiative involves an intentional approach for decolonising the mind.”

This has to be restorative in nature, renewing and infusing dynamic culture that pushes us towards critical thinking to identify and reconstitute the cultural base and its values, presently fragmented by suppression from different forces, she added.

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) President Kegwayhun Tep also encouraged city-based students to be more sincere and cautious of their lifestyles and also become influential ambassadors on behalf of the Nagas.

Earlier, the NSUD President, NSUD President Isaac Charenamai led the attendees in observing a silent prayer in remembrance of lives lost during the pandemic and in 2021, the union informed in a press release. The NSUD recorded 48 deaths cases during the pandemic, it said. The Meet was held after 2-year gap due to the pandemic.

He also acknowledged Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio for constantly supporting NSUD in all aspects over the years and presented a token of appreciation, which the DRC of Nagaland House received on CM's behalf, the release said.

The NSUD also launched its official website (www.nsud.in) in collaboration with Liamtra and encouraged all the Nagas in Delhi to register themselves on the website. The Meet also featured performances by the various artists from Nagaland and Delhi.

Since its inception in 1963, the NSUD has been ushering unity for all the Nagas spread across the NCR-Delhi, carrying out all the welfare movements, nurturing and governing leadership and exemplifying Nagas in all social and cultural events, the release added.
