Dimapur, November 9 (MExN): The Nagaland state unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Monday, asked the Nagaland University authorities to revoke its decision to conduct the ‘odd semester exams’ offline.
In a press release, the NSUI Nagaland appealed the NU to conduct the exams “in the same manner as was conducted for the final semester exams in the month of September.”
Stating that university officials as well as the college authorities are now familiarized and well acquainted with the new mode of exam, it said that conducting the exams in offline mode will not only be a “cumbersome exercise but also extremely hazardous.”
“Majority of the students from other districts study in Kohima and Dimapur while staying in rented houses and mostly hostels. While transportation will be a major factor, accommodation will be another major hindrance during the festive season. There is already widespread panic among the students, parents and the teachers after the NU decided to conduct the exams in offline mode,” the release stated.
Taking all these genuine issues into consideration, the NSUI sincerely hopes the NU authorities will apply their profound wisdom and revert the decision in the interest of the students as well as the teachers, it added.
