DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 5 (MExN): The National Students' Union of India (NSUI), Nagaland State has expressed profound shock over the alleged murder of Late Noghuvi Sumi, a BTh final year student whose dead body was disposed of on the roadside at Northern Angami Colony, Walford.
In a statement condemning the murder, the NSUI media cell described the act as "inhumane" and stated that such "dastardly acts" have no place in a civilized society. The NSUI urged the authorities to ensure a "fair and thorough investigation" and demanded that the perpetrator be swiftly brought to justice.
The NSUI also expressed their solidarity with the grieving family of the victim. "We extend our deepest condolences to the victim's family during these incredibly difficult times. We stand united with them and call upon all right-thinking citizens to join us in supporting the family until justice is served," the NSUI added in their statement.
The Proprietor Forum of Nagaland Bible Colleges/Seminaries also condemned the murder and expressed heartfelt grief at the loss of Noghuvi Sumi, a student from Shevishe village and Aghunato town. In their condemnation letter, the Forum called for the immediate investigation into the crime, urging law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is delivered to the highest possible extent.
The Forum extended its condolences to the victim's family and pledged support in their time of mourning. "We stand in unity with the bereaved family, and our prayers are with them. May God comfort and strengthen them through this difficult time," the Forum's statement read.
Also condemning the murder, the Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Sumi, describing him as a young man with the potential to contribute significantly to his community, the Naga society, and beyond, particularly through his theological studies.
The organization pointed out that the incident not only reflects a grave disregard for Christian values but also stands in direct violation of the principles of justice, humanity, and the sanctity of life, which are foundational to Naga society. “Naga society has had enough of such brutal acts of cold-blooded murder,” DAYO stated.
The organization, meanwhile, urged the authorities to spare no effort in thoroughly investigating the murder and ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
