The National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhandari conducted the Jan-Jan Ka Rakhe Dhyaan TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NI-Kshay Shivir) today, marking a significant step towards tuberculosis (TB) elimination in the region.
Renben Tsanglao, Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS) for Wokha, addressed the participants, explaining that the Health Screening Camp was part of the ongoing 100 Days Intensified Campaign launched by the Government of India. This initiative aims to accelerate TB case detection, reduce mortality, and prevent new cases through focused intervention, with the ultimate goal of achieving a TB-free India.
Tsanglao underscored the importance of early screening and detection, urging individuals to come forward without fear or hesitation. He highlighted common signs and symptoms of TB and emphasised the critical role of early intervention in halting the spread of the disease.
Additionally, Tsanglao noted the government’s comprehensive support and measures implemented to eliminate TB, such as free health screenings, non-communicable disease (NCD) checks, X-rays, blood tests, and sputum tests, which were made available to the public at the camp. The health screening initiative was aimed at identifying vulnerable populations and ensuring timely detection and treatment of TB cases, as well as preventing the onset of new cases.
