NU SASRD students urges to become ‘job givers’

Medziphema, September 6 (MExN): The School of Agricultural Sciences & Rural Development (SASRD), Medziphema Campus celebrated the 24th Nagaland University Foundation Day on September 6 by commemorating the day with a special Foundation Day Lecture delivered by Prof. D. T. Khathing, Vice Chancellor of North East Christian University, Medziphema.  

Prof. D.T. Khahting is the former Registrar of NEHU and also former Vice Chancellor of Jharkand Central University. In his Foundation Day Lecture, Prof. Khathing exhorted the teachers, students and staff of SASRD to be proactive and to keep in mind the necessity of keeping abreast of technological advances so as to be able to compete at the global level. He also stressed on the fact that although digitalization is important, the human touch and interaction is key in development of character and moral uprightness. He exhorted the students not to become job seekers but to become job givers because with the knowledge and skills learned they can become entrepreneurs and establish start ups and thus provide avenues of job opportunities to others.  

Welcome address was delivered by Prof. T. Lanusosang, Pro Vice Chancellor, SASRD NU while Prof. A. K. Makar, Dean, SASRD NU gave a short exhortation. The SASRD EU Choir and NU Male Voices regaled the gathering with special numbers. The Best MTS employee for the year 2016-2017 was also awarded to Ato Sema, (Agril. Engineering workshop) and Vikholieii, (Horticulture dept.).
