Nurses trained on district mental health

Mokokchung, June 9 (MExN): One day training for nurses on district mental health programme was held at IDSP Conference hall, IMDH Mokokchung on June 9.  

Dr Medem Medical Superintendent IMDH, Mokokchung gave the welcome speech where he thanked all the Nurses and the participants for attending the training. He challenged the participants to take this training as a privilege and learning and to take maximum advantage of the training.  

Dr Kibangkumba Dy. CMO, Mokokchung also gave a short speech on exhortation. He said that we need to learn from birth to death and the more you learn the more you gain. Mental health is very important and it is also a big problem because people were not aware of it earlier. He also challenged the participants for maximum learning in this one day training.  

Dr Temsuyanger DIO (RCH& UIP) & District Nodal officer for Mental Health and the facilitator of the training trained the participants on different mental health programme. He explained about mental illness and its common types like anxiety disorder, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, somatoform disorders, childhood mental disorders, etc. He said mental is a disease that causes mild to severe disturbances in thought and/or behaviour, resulting in an inability to cope with lives ordinary demands and routines.  

The other facilitator of the programme was Azungla clinical psychologist, Monica Phom psycho social worker and Ajungla Tutor. They were also trained on different mental health problems like psychological care, psycho social care, myths about mental illness and psychiatric nursing care.
