
Wokha, August 30 (MExN): As per the direction from the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland Kohima, the NVBDCP Wokha held a one-day Orientation for Surveillance Workers (SW)and Permanent Field Workers (PFW) on August 19 at CMO Conference Hall.
During the training, Dr. Zuben Kikon, DVBO, in a keynote address oriented the staff on how to carry out activities related to Malaria. He focused on Early Diagnosis which is the key component of Malaria, 60 % on Blood slide (Microscopic), 40% on RDT, a press release informed.
Keeping in mind the job responsibilities of the staff to achieve the aims and objectives of the programme – the objective being “End Malaria for Good”, Dr. Kikon advised the field staff to know the basic information such as status of their block, number of villages and households to be covered under their work plan.
Dr. Kikon urged the staff to contribute their service through actions and also be aware of all malaria related health activities in the calendar year.
Vezhopalu, Vector Borne Consultant of the District, focused on the training curriculum. Basic information on malaria and vector borne disease and keeping of Reporting and recording must be taken seriously, she urged and further advised the field staff workers to keep track of activities through a record and send the report within the stipulated time. She also urged them to work hand in hand with ASHAs of the villages and co-ordinate programme works with them.
Robert, MTS, briefed on the signs and symptoms of Malaria, Dengue and Japanese Encephalitis.
The re-orientation training was followed by blood slide test/RDT, Blood smear collection which was demonstrated by Lab Technicians. This was followed by drug administration which was taught by Chophao, SW.
