Kohima, August 24 (MExN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has urged the Governor of Nagaland to remove the 26 Parliamentary Secretaries and 9 Advisers in Nagaland as the Supreme Court of India in its judgement order dated of July 27 last had ruled such posts to be unconstitutional.
In a statement, the NVCO also highlighted a range of issues and assured that it will continue to fight against corruption in the state and even beyond on matters concerning the state.
It called for CBI enquiries into cases such as MKR Pillai, fuel adulteration, backdoor appointments, kerosene & PDS scam, etc. and further demanded establishing Lokayukta & State Human Rights Commission in the state.
The NVCO also asked the Chief Minister Office (CMO) Nagaland, Ministers, and Parliamentary Secretaries to stop taking commissions from public funds meant for infrastructural development in the name of Party Fund.
Pointing to the application of Goods & Services Tax (GST) in the state, the NVCO maintained that the State Government must stop all other taxes “legal or illegal” except GST and that collection of cash in any manner or on any highways by any individual or groups or organisations including check-gates maintained by Nagaland Police should be stopped.
Further highlighting the practice of backdoor appointments wherein bureaucrats/appointing authority/politician appoint their own kith or kin or political supporters, the NVCO called for a stop to such practices.
Meanwhile, the NVCO has also extended its support to ACAUT Nagaland in its crusade against corruption and asserted that the lowering of moral values and allowing corrupt practices result in the collapse of any state or society.
