Dimapur, September 16 (MExN): Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) with the support of Naga women partners, Women Cell, Anti-Tobacco Squad, National Tobacco Control programme and DUCCF conducted surprise raid under anti tobacco campaign near Public Commerce College, SD Jain College, Pranab College, Holy Cross Higher Secondary School and Christian Higher Secondary School.
The NWHD imposed fine ranging from Rs. 200 to 2000 and later, tobacco products seized during the raid were destroyed at the premises of DC Office. NWHD in a press release issued by its Information & Publicity, Thethem Hangsingh stated that as per the National Tobacco Control programme shopkeepers located near educational institutes are informed to refrain from selling any form of tobacco within 100 parameters. The Hoho expressed disappointment that pan shops are continuing to violate this directive and selling tobacco products.
Therefore, NWHD requests Business Association Nagaland, DCCI, school authorities and DUCCF and GBs to support the anti tobacco campaign “to safeguard our children from health hazardous element.”
