
DIMAPUR, MARCH 13 (MExN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra in Dimapur was officially inaugurated by T. Wati Aier, ADC, Longleng 12th on March 12 at EBRC Hall, Longleng.
A press note informed that the ADC, while addressing the youth gathering appreciated the efforts of the Government of India through the “instrumentalities Nehru Yuva Kedra which offers avenues for the youth with regard to opportunities” and called upon the youth to avail the opportunities offered by governments. He termed it as a privilege for the youth of Longleng district to have its office opened. He also said that the youth are the present and future.
“What you do today will determine your life tomorrow. If the youth today’s are bad than the society will face catastrophe tomorrow,” he said. He called upon the youth to work hard and give their heart and mind in competitive exam. He also said that Nagas are blessed with good land and climate for agriculture.
John Makhabo, DYC in charge of NYK, Longleng in his key note address, stated that NYK is here to stay and channelize youth potential who are in the age group of 13-35 years on the principles of voluntarism, self help and community participation and thus harnessing youth power for development.
He said that NYK strength lies in its networks with rural based youth clubs, which is around 2 lakhs and the largest grassroot level organization in Asia Pacific region. He also called upon the youth to work hard and to not shy away from responsibilities. He stated that each society has its own unique culture and talent and asked them to be responsible in taking their own culture forward. He stated the NYK has come to build the capacity of the youth He also appealed for the youth to not hover around government jobs alone rather create job avenues for others.
The Youth Convention programme was declared open by the Chief Guest. Sports materials were distributed and cultural displays were showcased by various youth clubs.
The programme was chaired by Lungchem, Youth Leader; while a welcome address was given by John Makhabo, DYC of NYK, Longleng. Mongoi, Associate Pastor of LBC invoked God’s blessing for the programme and Imlichuba, a Youth Leader gave the vote of thank.
