NYO Kohima, NYKS Nagaland join hands Clean India Mission

Kohima, October 26 (MExN): The Nagabazar Youth Organisation (NYO) joined hands with the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Nagaland, under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for the ongoing Clean India Mission on October 25 in Kohima. 

The month-long mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 1 and the NYKS has set a target to collect and dispose 75 lakh Kgs of plastic waste across the country.  

Accordingly, the NYO joined the mission by organising Swatch Bharat on October 25 where around 100 participants took pledge to carry out the initiative of cleanliness in every walk of life and not to litters, informed a press release from its President, Khrieketoulie Kintso and Convenor Sanitation Committee, Zevito Natso.

John, Makhano Director incharge NYKS administered the pledge.

Chief Guest Madhavi Agarwal, Vice Chairperson Board of Governors NYKS, New Delhi, in her address, emphasised on waste management and challenged the youth participants to reduce single use plastics with proper management on priority. 

She also mentioned that the NYKS had already collected 74 lakh kgs of plastic waste as of October 25 and would be achieving the target shortly. Later she also joined the NYO youth in collecting plastic waste and made live Facebook video, the release said.

Ruokuovikho Chale APA, NYKS, also expressed gratitude to Agarwal, participants from NYO, AYO members and NYKS Nagaland volunteers and officials. 

He further observed that such programme of national importance can only happen under an able leadership and cooperation of a good team of NYO, the released added.
