PEREN, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The Nagaland Zeliang People Organization (NZPO) has voiced strong opposition to the proposed inauguration of the incomplete Kohima-Dzuleke-Pedi-Peren road by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, scheduled for October 12.
A press statement issued by NZPO expressed grave concerns regarding public safety due to the road’s unfinished state. It emphasized that several critical sections of the road, including key bridges, remain under construction, making the inauguration both “illogical and unacceptable.”
The NZPO pointed out that crucial portions of the road have yet to be completed, with significant stretches lacking blacktopping, causing prolonged inconveniences to commuters. It insisted that the authorities immediately halt the planned event and prioritize the completion of the project to ensure the safety and comfort of the public.
Furthermore, the organization affirmed that it would closely monitor the situation and remain committed to holding the responsible authorities accountable. Only once the project is completed to the highest standards, NZPO stated, should any invitation to the Union Minister or other dignitaries for the inauguration to be extended.
It urged the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to avoid presenting “half-cooked” projects to the public for now and in the future.
