Officers sensitized on PM-KMY scheme

Kohima, August 27 (MExN): A one day sensitization programme on Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY) for officers from district and sub-division was held on August 26 at Directorate conference hall, Kohima.


The programme was chaired by C Peter Yanthan, Additional Director-I who also gave the welcome address. Addressing the officers, N Husheli Sema, IAS, Principal Secretary & APC asked the officers to disseminate their technical knowledge to the farmers. She also asked the DAO’s and SDAO’S to make an assessment of crop performance and anticipated production especially for paddy as many districts have received scanty rainfall. Director of Agriculture, M Ben Yanthan also addressed the officers giving a brief note on PM-KMY and asked the officers to be prompt in discharging their assigned duties. 


Power point on the newly launched PM-KMY scheme was presented by L Hangsing, Jt. Director of Agriculture. In his power point presentation the salient features and other information on the PM-KMY was elaborated. The scheme is a security scheme as farmer’s pension. A farmer under this scheme will get Rs. 3000 month after attaining the vesting date i.e., 60 years of age. The farmer has to voluntarily contribute certain amount starting from Rs. 55 to 200 according to their age on the date of registration. He also mentioned that the farmer may contact concern DAOs/SDAOs for details. It was also informed that small and marginal farmers of 18-40 years group were eligible for registration in the scheme. He also asked the DAOs and SDAOs to conduct awareness campaign on PM-KMY for the farmers.
