Officials inspect Satoi-Itovi-Ikiye road construction

DIMAPUR, MAY 2 (MExN): A physical inspection of the ongoing construction of the Satoi-Itovi-Ikiye road under PMGSY Phase-IX, Batch -I (2017-18)  was conducted by officials on April 29. 

The inspection was carried out by the Executive Engineer, SDO, spot officer, JE site incharge, PWD R&B Zunheboto Division, contractor and proprietor Nagaland Steel Engineering Works. 

This was done in response to the call of the Ikiye-Itovi Youth Front.  A press release from the Ikiye Itovi Youth Front informed that a resolution has been adopted that the contractor should arrange sufficient machinery for early completion of the road. 

It was further resolved that the Joint Council Ikiye-Itovi would detail a volunteer to monitor the ongoing construction and communicate with all concerned. 

Meanwhile the Ikiye-Itovi Youth Front has been empowered to supervise the ongoing construction till its completion.

The resolution stressed that the road needs to be constructed with formation cutting of 6 m & carriage width 3 m with a total of minimum 20 feet including the site drainage as per the DPR. The contractor has also been urged to clear all landslides and construct drainage as per the DPR. Further the contractor is obligated to rectify/expand three sharp u-turn locations along the road towards Itovi village. 

Earlier, the EE, PWD R&B, Zunheboto Division assured that the department would ensure quality workmanship as per the specifications of the work order and physically carry out inspection.
