
Longleng, August 16 (DIPR): Parliamentary Secretary for Land Resources Department (LRD) & Excise BS Nganlang Phom formally inaugurated the new office building of District Project Officer, Land Resources Department, Longleng on August 16.
Pointing out that politicians come and go, Nganlang appealed to the departmental officials to leave behind legacy of good workmanship for the younger generation to carry forward and move towards the right perspectives. He lamented that bad legacy is the result of corruption which the Nagas of today are living with. He asserted that if people want to progress they must take initiatives and intervene in the issues with innovative ideas. Government too requires suggestions, directions and cooperation from the civil societies and stakeholders for effective implementation of government policies and programmes, Nganlang added.
Speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, Secretary LRD Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, called upon the staff and the people of the district to maintain cleanliness of the office and set an example for others to follow suit. He also lauded the Director for keeping the LRD directorate neat and clean and for having one of the best directorates in the state constructed with least expenditure.
Lauding the landowner for donating the office land free of cost without any compensation from the department, he said it was first of its kind where a Naga landowner has become a land donor of the department. He expressed that such good gesture should be disseminated to other landowners who create hindrance for development all over the state.
The Director of LRD Hoto Yeptho presented a brief report on the new office building construction. He informed that the office was constructed under the Special Plan Assistant (SPA) and lauded BS Nganlang for availing the fund from Delhi through the then Chief Minister N. Rio. Although LRD is a new department, he announced, with the completion of Longleng DPOs office, all the DPO offices in the 11 districts are completed.
The Director also appealed to the people of Longleng to take ownership of the new office to enable the department’s officials discharge their duties smoothly under the protection of the people for the development of the people.
