Oil Palm Farm School inaugurated at Khekiho Village

Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Dhansiripar block inaugurated an Oil Palm Farm School at Khekiho village on June 4.  

Resource person Ronchamo Kikon, SDAO & BTT Convener, Dhansiripar block while stressing that palm oil is a widely used vegetable oil amounting to 65% of all vegetable oil, apprised the participants of its benefits and importance and also briefed on oil palm cultivation guide.  

A training on ‘Pest Management in Oil Palm’ was also conducted with an aim to educate the farmers for proper identification and monitoring of pests and to manage them before they reach Economic Injury Level (EIL) at the farm school for the oil palm beneficiaries. During the inaugural programme, concept of farm school and role of farmer teacher was highlighted by Moainla, BTM, ATMA.  

Field visit, thereafter, to oil palm farm was also carried out and various discussions were held between the farmers and the resource person.  

The programme was attended by 20 farmers. Lime bags, small farm tools and rodenticides were also distributed among them and financial assistance was provided to the farm school teacher.
