Dimapur | September 20
The Dimapur Police informed that one person was arrested late Sunday night, for the alleged armed intrusion into the private residence of Mughavi N Zhimomi, Vice President of Dimapur Goods Transport Association (DGTA) earlier on September 19.
As per preliminary investigation, the intruder is not a member of any Naga Political Groups but is suspected to be close to one, police sources told The Morung Express on Monday.
In this regard, the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) issued a statement on September 20, condemning the alleged intrusion and physical assault meted to a family member of the DGTA Vice President by unknown miscreants.
Citing family sources of the victim, the DCCI said that “some six-seven armed and masked miscreants” arrived in three-four vehicles and barged into the private residence of Mughavi Zhimomi at Mishikito village at around 7 pm.
When the armed miscreants found that Mughavi and his wife were not at home, the miscreants started harassing their children, it said, while adding that the miscreants not only physically assaulted a minor but also damaged seven mobile phones of the children.
“Such kind of armed intrusion and assault on children is uncalled for and should be condemned by one and all,” DCCI stated.
Voicing suspicion that the incident is related to the call against multiple taxations by various organisations including business and goods transport bodies, the DCCI urged the police to urgently and firmly act on the FIR filed by the victim's family and promptly arrest the miscreants.
NSCN/GPRN cautions
Meanwhile, the NSCN/GPRN issued a statement on Monday, cautioning all transporters/transport agencies to “desist from all association with Mughavi Zhimo, Tatar, NSCN (Khongo) and vice president, Nagaland Transport Association as he is evidently found to be collecting money from transporters in the name of different underground faction including NSCN/GPRN for his personal benefit.”
The statement from the NSCN/GPRN MIP alleged that “at no point of time the NSCN/GPRN had authorised Mughavi Zhimo to collect money on behest of the government moreover, he is an active member of NSCN (Khongo) and therefore question does not arise for him to be authorised by the NSCN/GPRN.”
Further, it alleged Mughavi of collecting monthly ‘protection money’ from transporters as well as money on behalf of NNPGs but not submitting the same to the concerned authority. “In order to seek shelter for his wrong doings, he joined NSCN (Khongo) in the year 2020 with a back dated appointment order when he was found misusing money collected in the name of national workers,” it alleged.
Stating that “activities of such self-vested individuals are tarnishing the good image of the national workers and ultimately, national workers are getting the blame,” the NSCN/GPRN said that all right-thinking citizens must be aware of such unscrupulous actions. It further cautioned Mughavi to immediately cease all his unlawful activities and informed that transporters and businessmen dealing with him “for any financial matter related to NSCN/GPRN shall be doing so at their own risk.”
