One drowns in Chathe

A Sunday outing by the riverside ended in tragedy in Dimapur. The body of a young girl, who was reportedly drowned, was still to be retrieved from the Chathe River on Sunday evening.

As per reports, a group of youths were on an outing by the riverside when the tragedy occurred. 

The police said that it occurred at the irrigation dam downstream of the Chathe Bridge. Three youths were reportedly taking pictures at the dam when there was a current surge. 

They reportedly fell into the river as a result of the current surge. Two managed to get out and one could not, the police said.  The youth’s body, believed to be a girl in her teens, was still to be retrieved. The police said that search operation was suspended due to low light.
