
Dimapur, February 11 (MExN): The Nokpu Village Council under Mokokchung district has ex-communicated one person by the name Imlitemsu LKR from the membership of Nokpu citizen endorsed by the joint Nokpu and Assiringiah village council and general public, in a meeting held during November 2007. Informing of this through a press note issued by Rendimar Longchar, Chairman Assiringiah Village Council and Jemsungba Walling, Chairman Nokpu Village Council it stated that the said person was ex-communicated “due to non compliance to the village authority as per the practice; usage of Ao customary law”.
The press note informed that Imlitemsu’s candidature to contest the forthcoming Assembly election was not recognized by the people/voters of Nokpu and Assiringiah village (Nokpu Senso) and that the Nokpu Senso had decided to preserve the “Status quo of senso candidate which was unanimously resolved during 1973”.
The press note informed that a joint meeting of four Nokpu Senso Jupang (Four administrative body) along with the Nokpu and Assiringiah village council on February 9, 2008 reaffirmed the Nokpu Senso resolution adopted during 1973 and as such appealed to all the voters of 32 polling stations of Alongtaki AC segment not to be “confused over the issue of Imlitemsu LKR of his partaking in the ensuing election”.
