
CHÜMOUKEDIMA, FEBRUARY 4 (MExN): A consultative meeting was held on February 4 in Chümoukedima, organized by leaders from the Naga Hoho, Nagaland Goan Buras Federation (NGBF), and the Senior Citizens Association of Nagaland (SCAN).
According to a press release issued by media cell, Nagaland Goan Buras Federation (NGBF), the meeting focused on discussions surrounding the Naga political issue, with an emphasis on unity, cooperation, and the need for a resolution.
During the meeting, several resolutions were adopted unanimously. The participants stressed the urgency of an early political solution, urging the negotiating parties to address the Naga people’s demand for a solution that is honorable, inclusive, transparent, and acceptable to the public.
They also appealed to all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to make renewed efforts towards unity and understanding to work towards one solution and one agreement. Additionally, the gathering called on all sections of Naga society to work together to strengthen unity and bring all stakeholders in the peace process under a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding.
The house further urged the two negotiating parties, NSCN (IM) and the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups to publish a Single Document or Common Draft of the mutually agreed agreements i.e. Framework Agreement (FA) and Agreed Position (AP) and approach to the GoI so that there is no confusion over the final solution.
The house also resolved that the “cry for reconciliation and unity within the Naga family must be respected” and “Therefore, the effort for all the Naga political groups to come together should be pursued with all seriousness in the larger political interest of the Naga people and her posterity.”
Meanwhile, the house urgently appealed to the Government of India (GoI) to uphold the Free Movement Regime (FMR) agreement with Myanmar. The house expressed concern that canceling this agreement would violate international law and the basic human rights of Naga civilians to move freely in their homeland.
