‘Oneness is a must for the church’

Serika Baptist Church celebrates golden jubilee 

Wokha, January 16 (MExN): Speaking on the occasion of Serika Baptist Church golden jubilee celebration, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton said that ‘forgiveness and unity is the true essence of celebrating jubilee and the feeling of oneness and cohesiveness is a must for the church and the society to grow hand in hand.’ 

“Giving reverence and recognition to the pioneers is also paramount because, it is only through them, we could come thus far,” he stated. 

Serika, being located at the Merapani stretch of Assam, the Dy CM said that the “porous area is a haven for contraband substances to flow in easily and cautioned the youngsters against drugs and substance abuse which can ruin their career.”

 On the misuse of mobile phones, he said that it is a bane rather than a boon for most students, and it is evident from the fact that students are glued to their phones rather than books, which is detrimental for their future. Patton also emphasised on the urgency of conservation and preservation of forests and wildlife which is fast vanishing and urged them to desist from gifting wildlife to VIPs and dignitaries. He further assured to sponsor two needy theologians with a sum of rupees ten thousand each per month from the village up till graduation. 

A press release issued by the Dy CMO Media Cell stated that while bringing jubilee greetings to the congregation, Principal Secretary, GoN, E Mhonbemo Patton IAAS, said that putting God first in everything and anything is the only way to reach what has not been attainable and to achieve what has not been achieved earlier. 

Rev Dr Benry Lotha, Sr Pastor KLBC, sharing the word of God said that jubilee is a time for thanksgiving, forgiveness and more importantly; to renew our fellowship with the Lord and a new covenant for the future to be made with the faithful and God, he opined.

Beautiful melodies were presented by Serika Baptist Church choir and Old Riphyim Baptist Church choir. The programme came to close with benediction by Renchio Mozhui, pastor, Yanmhon Baptist Church.
