As part of its educational activity for a ‘holistic growth’ not only educationally but also physically, the Blossoms Preschool, Mokokchung organized an “Oral & Dental Health awareness camp” in collaboration with Indian Dental Association (IDA) here today.
Altogether, ten dentists from the IDA, Nagaland State Branch, Mokokchung Unit diligently examined the dental health of the tiny tots of Blossoms Preschool.
“This is a first of its kind, and we are planning to have such camps in the days to come, because we believe that a child’s life is not only about learning ABC but also about hygiene and all,” said Sashinungla Nathan, the proprietor of the preschool.
Besides examining the teeth of the students, the dental doctors also interacted with the parents and enlightened them about the importance of a child’s dental care.
Blossoms Preschool, established in 2015, has grown to be one of the important institutions in Mokokchung to train preschool children before they join formal educational institutions.
The institution has seventy three students ranging from the age 3-5, manned by ten trained staffs, preparing the children for their induction into formal educational institutions. The proprietor of Blossoms Preschool had this to say: The children of today are very inquisitive and intelligent, and here we try to meet their intellectual needs and prepare them for their formal education.
Sashinungla Nathan (the proprietor) also said Blossoms Preschool has a different section for ‘special needs children’ and take special care for them. She said that there are some children who have autism or ADHD; but which the institution is attending to such special need children through ‘need based’ intervention, with a sense of understanding the child’s needs.
Meanwhile, after the dental camp, an ‘Oral health care’ seminar was also held for the parents where the doctors enlightened about the ways and means of basic dental healthcare.
