Jakhama | June 18 : Minister for Health and Family Welfare Khuzoluzo Neinu today asserted that the hope and future of the society lies in students, and it is upto them to make or break their future.

Stating that government jobs have reached saturation point in the state and people live in a fiercely competitive world where life has become like a big jungle, the rule of survival of the fittest applies. The Minister challenged the students to prepare themselves to compete with others and show their willingness to work abroad, in central government jobs, the private sectors, multi-national firms and even venture into self employment activities. “I am sure all of you here today will be survivors in the jungle of life, “the Minister said while addressing the Freshers’ Day of St. Joseph College, Jakhama here this morning.
In order to live up to the motto of the college “Arise and Shine,” the Minister said the students needs three basis things in life – first seek God, second- hard work and third- accept success and failure so as to become a successful students and human being. The Minister stated that the students must have passion in whatever they do and always have curiosity to lean, go further and seek further. He believed that to be a good student and a successful human being, one must put God first in everything. “When you have the passion and work hard accordingly to make your dream a reality, then you will succeed and I am sure that no success tastes as good as the once achieved through hard work,” the minister maintained.
Elaborating his view on success and failure, the Minister asserted that to him, life is a combination of both success and failure and both are needed to mould the students to be successful person. “So we should accept or so also welcome both success and failure,” the Minister said citing an example how Thomas Alva Edison who failed a thousand times before finding a filament that would work.
“I believe he imported materials from all over the world, trying to make a filament that would not burn up. When one failed to work, he just crossed that materials off his list and went on to the next one. I think we can just notice what passion he had on his work, it was the passion itself that kept him going and I believe he even got more excited with each failure, knowing he was that much closer to success,” he maintained. He reminded that students that winners in life are those have never let failure be failures, rather they are those who have failed again and again, but who never gave up. Neinu congratulated all the students for their success in their last exanimations and being able to join this premier and prestigious college.
Presently, St. Joseph College, Jakhama has 2387 students, college principal Dr. (Fr.) Abraham Lotha said. He stated that the college will be introducing degree level in Science from next year.
