DC Kohima says sufficient essential commodities in state capital

Over 100 trucks loaded with essential commodities have been stranded at the cut off stretch of National Highway-29 along Peducha since July 26.
After the road was completely cut off due to landslide, Kohima SP in recent traffic advisory restricted plying of all heavy vehicles on NH 29 to and fro Kohima and Dimapur till the stretch is restored. Meanwhile, Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Soundararajan assured that “we have sufficient essential commodities in the town (Kohima).”
As far as fuel is concerned, he informed that arrangements are being made for the tankers to reach Kohima by July 31 night. He added that availability of fuel should not be a problem. However, several vehicles were seen making beelines to fuel outlets today.
Meanwhile, 14.2 kg LGP cylinders are out of stock now at Seyie Gas Service Kohima. However, 5 kg LPG cylinders are still available. It was informed that if the passage for vehicles carrying LPG cylinders is not allowed then there is eminent of danger of shortage in Kohima. The last drop was made on Friday.
