Nagaland DGP Besesayo Kezo make maiden visit to 4th NAP Thizama

Nagaland’s Director General of Police (DGP) Besesayo Kezo, IPS today stated that there are over 27,000 police personnel in Nagaland. In his maiden visit to 4th NAP Thizama this morning, Kezo said that if these number of police personnel decide to do something good for the people “we can bring change to the society.”
In this, he called upon the police personnel to maintain discipline and adopt the right attitude and behavior to change the society. He also lauded the constables for doing all the good works, terming it as highly respected post and asked them to continue to maintain discipline. Asserting that no one will be able to score a successful life without discipline, Kezo maintained that discipline will take any individual forward.
Also stating that strong arms is required in the police department, Kezo said that he was trying to strengthen the arms branch. Touching on water problem in various parts of the state and with special reference to its availability in the police department, he opined that all the new building constructions should have a rainwater harvesting facility to store the water, adding that the same has been communicated to engineers.
He was optimistic that such arrangement would ease the water problem. Further, he also met the members of DGP Band during his visit and complimented them for their successful journey. Earlier, raising some matters to the DGP, 4th NAP commandant Vekhosa Chakhesang said that perquisite/special pay & allowance which the state police have enjoying since its inception was halted since 4th ROP 1993.
He stated that various allowances have not been revised in the last two consecutive ROPs, adding that a representation in this regard failed to draw the attention of the department and government. However, this time on recommendation of the department, the board had examined the matter and proposal is being put up for consideration, Vekhosa said. Also stating that clothing materials are of poor quality, he said that issue of just one pair of uniform is too less for unit like 4th NAP battalion confined to VIP House guard duty alone.
In this, he said that the opportunity may consider for issue of two pair of uniform to those personnel who actually perform House guards. Toshitsungba, IGP (NAP) and Wabang, IPS, DIG (MOD) accompanied the DGP.
