Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) implying at its disassociation with the Naga Hoho as well as the lack of unity between the underground factions, has called for unity both between the ‘over ground organizations’ and the underground organizations and attributed the lack of mutually-reciprocative approach to the widespread division in the Naga family.
“Unity among all Naga overgrounds as well as the underground organizations at this juncture for the future of Nagas are the talks and needs of today. Nagaland having with small population and areas comparatively to other states, with unique political history consists of many tribes with wide division in opinions and lack of unity in the overgrounds as well as in the underground organizations level, leads us to more confusion towards the achievement of our common interest/goal” stated an ENPO release through its president, Pohwang Konyak.
The ENPO stated that although it supports all Naga organizations in with the “perspective” of unity, it is much unfortunate that there is lack of a united spirit among both the organizational spectrum of the undergrounds as well as the overgrounds. “Today the Nagas are misguided by the Nagas only under the policy of dive and rule. Such attitude and concepts must be removed and buried once and for all from the mindset of the peace-loving Nagas” the ENPO stated.
In regard to its relation with the Naga Hoho, the ENPO had this to say: “As a matter of fact and very unfortunate that though ENPO (elsewhere TMPO) disassociate with the Naga Hoho, its cooperation and support that extended in the interest of Naga general public were underestimated and criticize rather than looking into the reasons behind and addressed to which invited more controversies between the ENPO and the Naga Hoho”.
However, the ENPO asserted that it always held faith to stand on the principle of Naga unity and for this extended support to all organizations. “ENPO feels that if we are really serious to the common interest/goal, unity among all the Naga organizations must be the prime objective which Nagas yearn for at this juncture” it stated and called upon all organizations, both overground and underground, to unite as one family.
