Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): Public Action Committee (PAC) under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) held a consultative meeting on August 18 at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur. The meeting was conducted in pursuance to the resolution adopted in the last meeting held on July 26 to conduct consultative meeting with respective tribes/organisations under Dimapur district on multiple taxation, syndicates and lease systems, a release from Convenor Vekhosayi Nyekha, and Co-Convenor K Ghokheto Chophy, PAC informed.
PAC comprises of 19 Tribal Hohos under Dimapur, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), GBs Union Dimapur, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), the release also mentioned.
The reports of the tribal hohos and organisations were tabled in the house for deliberation. First-hand information on various collections in the form of taxes, fees was also tabled by the Fact Finding Committee, the release said.
Further, the meeting observed that all the tribes/organisations shared a concerted opinion that “every citizen has been adversely affected by the system of rampant collection of multiple taxes by national workers in the form of syndicates & lease systems along with taxes by different agencies & registered unions.”
Therefore, the PAC, as first course of action, decided to meet the district administration and concerned groups for curbing such syndicates, lease systems and multiple taxations.
The house also expressed solidarity for "One Government, One Tax" and the desire for an early settlement of the Naga political struggle. It later endorsed fullest support & co-operation to PAC team working under the banner of NCD.
