
Phek, March 31 (MExN): An orientation training programme was organized at DPDB Conference Hall, Phek by Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) with resource persons and master trainers from Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) on March 30.
A press note informed that the programme aims at improving the quality and enhancing competent free legal services to the poor and marginalized society by the empanelled Panel Lawyers and PLVs of Legal Services institutions in the State. The orientation also imparts legal training on new legislations and State Welfare Schemes, ensuring the benefits of various schemes to reach all section of people with the aid of Legal Services institutions.
N. Longshithung Ezung, Chairman Phek DLSA, Addl. District & Session Judge spoke on the do’s & don’ts for Para Legal Volunteers. Interaction on Motor Vehicle Accident Claims/Cases (Role of PLV) was coordinated by L. Likhase Sangtam, Retainer Lawyer, Kiphire DLSA.
In the practical session on writing petition/complain/FIR, Tongpang L. Jamir, Master Trainer (PL), NSLSA divided the PLVs into groups to draft FIR and also supplied FIR sample to help file proper and effective FIR. On the topic, Consumer Redressal Techniques & Forum, Role of PLVs/PL, Tongpong illustrated the definition of Consumers and the duties and responsibilities of a vigilant consumer.
Akumla Longchari, Master Trainer (PL), NSLSA, trained the PLVS on Role Play on crimes against Women/Children (Role of PLV) and a short role play through video screening was presented on Domestic Violence against women. Role of PLV on Human Trafficking was demonstrated by Akumla in the form of quiz/brainstorming to the participants to make rational reasoning and understand what actually is human trafficking, who are and can be a victim of such trafficking and who can be a trafficker. Akumla also appraised the participants on the relevant social welfare Schemes available for the welfare of the general public.
M. Glory Sema, Panel lawyer, NSLSA coordinated the practical session on Maintenance of Record/PLV Register/Filing of Success Stories.
During the group discussion on NALSA Schemes, Tongpong L Jamir, Master Trainer (PL), NSLSA informed the trainees about the 7 NALSA Schemes and the newly added 3 schemes.
L. Likhase Sangtam, Retainer Lawyer, Kiphire highlighted Prisoner Rights and Legal Services. He spoke on the rights of the arrested person and various legal provisions available to protect the rights of the prisoners.
Challenges and problems and way forward for PLV & Panel Lawyer was presented by N. Longshithung Ezung, Chairman Phek DLSA, Addl. District & Session Judge. Feedbacks from the trainees were also recorded during the session. Altogether 38 participants attended the one day orientation training.
