Dimapur, Sept 26 (MExN): In the now-long-drawn-ex-JD(U)-candidate-supporters-Versus-NPF-supporters standoff, the NPF Pangti unit has issued a clarification in regard to an earlier counter claim from ex-JD (U) candidate, Ekyimo Kikon’s PS P Roland Ezung. Pangti Village Council has also issued a warning against any interference from outside elements.
The unit while informing that the Pangti Village Council chairman election has been postponed till date through an order of the Home Department, Government of Nagaland, challenged that if the elections has been declared “both P Roland Ezung and Ekiymo Kikon are above the Government of Nagaland”. The unit also clarified that declaration made by the village’s Head GB and Assistant Head GB as stated by the two that “we are force to signed in the readymade written declaration order and which the seal used in the declaration order was also not Pangti Village Council seal” and that “they made new seal by their own”. “Therefore the illegal declaration was also already rejected by the village authority in the interest of the general public and the DC Wokha also refused to accept the letter on the ground that no government order has been issued to conduct the Pangti Village Council chairman election” stated a clarification from the unit through its executives. It was also clarified that at present there are only 33 VCM’s at Pangti as a result of the death of one GB in June this year. “But Shri Y Ekyimo Kikon being a politician did not know even the death of GB in the village. Therefore NPF Pangti unit remind Shri Y Ekyimo Kikon that there is not 34 VCMs in the village…if you are also politician or if you are also Pangtian you should play constructive policy towards village administration” stated the unit.
Meanwhile, the Pangti Village Council has clarified that election has not been conducted. It was fixed to be held on February 20, 2006 “but due to interference from some of the interested national workers for disqualification of 8 VCMs including Head GB and one VCM”. The village council also stated that supporters of a candidate, Npemo Ngullie, forced the EAC of Sungro to conduct the elections. When he refused to do so, the officer was physically assaulted and his official vehicle destroyed at the behest of Y Ekyimo Kikon, according to a statement by Head GB Ritsamo Shitiri. The statement also asked Kikon not to make any “baseless propaganda” in future and also warned of stringent action against P Roland Ezung from interfering in the PVC elections as it is an internal matter. The village council has also appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha to issue order for conducting the elections “without bowing to the interference to some vested interested persons, failing which Pangti Village Council shall not be held responsible for any untoward incident”.
