Peren, August 20 (MExN): The Parents’ Association, Sainik School, Punglwa has written an open representation to the Chairman, Local Board Administration of the school regarding absence of Mathematics teacher.
The representation appended by president, Neilo Khape and general secretary, Thomas K Rengma highlighted that there has been no teacher for Mathematics subject in the higher secondary level since the beginning of the academic year 2017-18. In this regard, the cadets of class XII agitated in July for the reason that they have lost almost 70 classes of Maths by June.
The parents’ body had held an emergency meeting with the cadets of Class-XII followed by a meeting with the school authority. In the meeting with the authority, the Association had requested for immediate action to appoint the Maths teacher. “However, due to non compliance by the authority inspite of the cadets and parents’ request, the cadets of Class-XII walked out of the school on 8th July 2017 as a mark of resentment for ignoring the demands and grievances of the cadets,” it added.
Following this, the parents and cadets of Class-XII had an emergency meeting in Dimapur on July 10 and accordingly, they met the school authority on the same day.
According to the representation, the authority gave assurances and commitment to appoint the Maths teacher immediately and also as a remedial measure, the old Maths teacher was recalled to assist. However, it said, after a short stay the teacher left the school “for reasons best known to the authority.”
Stating that the cadets of Class-XI and XII are left without proper Maths teacher till date, the Parents’ Association has urged the authority of Sainik School, Punglwa to immediately act before further damage is done. “It is also to remind you that the career of the students should not be left at stake with no fault of theirs,” the representation added.
