Parliamentary Secy appeals DGFT to set up information centre

Kohima | June 22 : Parliamentary Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Dr. K. C. Nihoshe fervently appealed to the Director General Foreign Trade (DGFT) to set up an information centre in the department of Industries and Commerce as it is the main department responsible for export activities.
Addressing at the “Symposium on Export Prospects and concerns in Nagaland” as the chief guest today at the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, the parliamentary secretary said location/distance is the reason behind the Nagas lack to compete with the national and international level.
Asserting that Nagaland does not have much production though there are tremendous potentials in the state forest, Agri or Floral products, there is no marking system, Nihoshe said “our people wants to wake up from our deep slumber specifically for the wants to export promotional activities”.
He also said that due to irregular inflow of funds on time in any department, it loses the interest of the young Naga educated people to serve creation of opportunity is very.
Nihoshe made strong appeal to set up high correspondent to the ministry in Nagaland as time consumption on following the procedures and formalities is very high thereby hitting strong impact on the projects.
He lamented that though Nagaland state is about to attain 50 years of statehood, Nagaland is still behind those states who got statehood after Nagaland.
The parliamentary secretary expressed hope urging that “If you think that Nagaland is a part of Indian country, distance and location should not be the matter”, reminding that Nagaland state is one of the senior most state in the North Eastern Region.
He also lauded the DGFT, UBI Kolkata, All India Chairman SHEFEXIL for taking keen interest to hear the grievances of Nagaland state and was hopeful to see changes in export activities.
Guest of honour, DGFT, Government of India, Dr. Anup K. Pujari IAS in his address said their visit is to evaluate the problems faced by the exporters, importers, entrepreneurs though issues may not be solved in a day or two, but to work jointly with Government of Nagaland and Government of India.
The DGFT instilled on the participants to have competitive spirit and assured response on getting their mails urging the partipants to set their target in exporting as ‘our’ country needs to export more.
He urged the participants to email him stating “I promise infornt of parliamentary secretary, Dr. K.C Nihoshe that I and my organization respond to your mail”.
Also CMD, UBI Kolkata, Bhaskar Sen in his brief address said Nagaland has abundance of human resources where opportunities and potentials are unlimited. Stating that UBI has long association with Nagaland, he is optimistic that certain positive steps will be ensured through the programme.
All India Chairman, SHEFEXIL in his brief note highlighted about the activities of SHEFEXIL. Earlier the programme was chaired by Commissioner secretary, Industries & Commerce Mrs. L.H Thangi Manen.
