Passionate About Singing

Husband wife team, Dr. Limawati Pongen and Benisha Pongen is all smiles during the rehearsals. Surrounded by specialized musicians, still they seem unfazed. For what they lack in training, they make up for it in their passion for singing and years of experience participating in numerous shows.

Dr. Limawati shared that Choir participation in the Church had given him the basic training, while Benisha has been singing since her School days. “We feel prepared for this show,” they confess excitedly.

As parents of 4 children, they have to juggle numerous practices, show rehearsals and concerts. “We are so grateful for our children’s understanding,” they humbly state.
Dr. Limawati is also an active singer in the acclaimed Choral team “The Nagaland Chamber Choir (TNCC)”. With zero music training, he states that it is his passion and love for music that drives him to perform in shows. “It is the sheer joy I get from singing,” Along with singing I also get to meet people and travel to different places.

And this meeting of people, practising for the “Handel’s Messiah Concert” is what brings them closer to people from all tribes, musical background and age groups.  “It takes time and massive effort to come together and show such solidarity. But it is not possible to achieve our dream of Unity if we do not come together, and this is just the beginning,” they expressed hope.
