Patanjali Ayurved Limited – one of India’s leading Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company – is all set to establish a 100-bed hospital for the differently-abled in Dimapur. The company has also expressed an interest to open a university in the state.
The announcement was made today Parliamentary Secretary for Higher and Technical Education, N. Thomas Lotha at a programme dedicated to the differently-abled in Dimapur. Patanjaili CEO Bal Krishna Acharya and state Chief Minister TR Zeliang were also present.
Lotha, who is a member of General Council for People with Multiple Disabilities, Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, while informing that the project will be in collaboration with the Central and Nagaland state governments, added that an amount of Rs. 100cr has been sanctioned for the project. Lotha also stated that December 28 will be commemorated annually as a ‘blessed day’ for the differently-abled in the state.
According to Acharya, Patanjali will set up the proposed university if it gets a positive nod to the project envisioned. It was not disclosed where the hospital and the proposed university will be located. He only said that three possible sites have been considered for the proposed university.
Further, he described the situation in Nagaland as “good and not as presumed.” Stating he was cautioned by his associates on his visit to a place perceived as conflict zone, he added, “. “I will spread the message that Nagaland is safe and friendly”, communicated Acharya.
The CM while assuring support to the project and to the differently-abled community sought the cooperation of all sections of the society. Stating that the people of the state should open the door to any company expressing interest to invest in the state, the CM said, “Let us open ways for the company to set up university in the state.”
