Patkai Christian College bids farewell to Class of 2025

PATKAI, May 11 (MExN): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) held its ‘Parting Social’ on Saturday to bid farewell to the graduating class of 2025. The event, themed “Lumen: The Light That Left Behind,” was a celebration of academic accomplishments, memories, and the journey ahead.

The farewell began with an invocation by Avono Iralu, Assistant Professor, Department of Biblical Studies, followed by a welcome address from Heme Sumao, Vice President of the Students’ Union of Patkai Christian College (SUPCC), who acknowledged the significance of the occasion and extended greetings to attendees.

The ceremony featured an array of performances including a musical duet by Guidinlu and Rarhaduo, while a poem was recited by Lothunglo Humtsoe titled “Even the Trees Will Remember You.” 

Dr. Zulusenla, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, drew from classical Greek philosophy to distinguish between living for oneself, for the community, and for the greater good. She encouraged graduates to lead lives of purpose and engagement, quoting scripture—“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth”—and referencing author Alvin Aolfper, stating that life is “more than a profession; it is a profound journey to be lived meaningfully.”

Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, founder of the college, offered a solemn prayer and underscored the message, “Time is precious and time matters,” reminding students of the values upon which the college was founded.

Outgoing third-year students Limayala Aier, President of SUPCC, and Kaboly S. Rochill delivered farewell remarks on behalf of the graduating cohort.

The celebration continued with a drama titled “Campus Diary” that depicted everyday campus life with, followed by performances from GenZ Trend Setters, music by Ultimata Chorea Gentes and Moasangla Walling, a fashion show, and a musical finale by the band Casual Chaos.

Cheimirin Valui, Assistant General Secretary of SUPCC, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to faculty, organizers, and students. The evening concluded with a benediction by Neikhalo Sono, Senior Warden of the Old Campus Boys’ Hostel.
