As Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) approaches the culmination of its year-long Golden Jubilee celebration on November 2, a standout feature has been the remarkable generosity of its alumni across various batches. “Patkai is indeed a blessed college due to its vibrant alumni scattered all over the world,” the college’s official Facebook page posted on October 29, highlighting the latest contributions from alumni.

While the network of alumni has always been a cornerstone of the Patkai community, with many returning to support their alma mater, remarkable contributions during the milestone year ranging from construction projects to scholarship funds to cash donations, attest the assertion.

Among the notable contributions, the 1989 graduating batch established a corpus fund of Rs 5 lakh to support needy students in honour of the jubilee.

The Class of 1988-92 constructed a gazebo on the college’s Old Campus, while a similar pavilion was built by the 1991-96 batch on the New Campus.

The 1992-97 batch reconstructed the college’s main gate, dedicated on December 1, 2023, while the ensuing 1993-98 batch established a Jubilee Park near the PCC auditorium.

Meanwhile, the Golden Jubilee monolith, courtesy of the 1995-2000 batch, will be inaugurated on November 2.

The 1996-2001 batch is also renovating the main stretch of the college, dubbed as ‘Jubilee Road.’

On October 29, a monumental signage was inaugurated near the college entrance along the National Highway-29 Dimapur Bypass road, contributed by the Class of 1997-2002 (PU 1997-99 & BA/BSc 1999-2002). The signage, standing six feet tall, is clearly visible from the highway below and beyond was dedicated by PCC Principal Emeritus Rev Dr TA Shishak.  The 2007 graduating batch has also contributed 100 chairs.

Besides, college sources informed that cash donations continue to flow in for the jubilee from various alumni.

Throughout the year-long celebration and the upcoming November 2 event, various alumni are contributing in different capacities, including the Alumni Choir, reflecting the enduring spirit and generosity of the community.

PCC founding Principal and Principal Emeritus Rev Dr Tuisem A Shishak stated in 2021 that his greatest joy of his life is to see Patkai alumni doing productive life across the world, adding: “My greatest achievement is Patkai Alumni.”

The recent initiatives have re-affirmed his statement.

The PCC was established in 1974 as a liberal arts college with the motto, “Lux et Veritas: Light and Truth”.
