Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs) Y Patton  today urged civil societies of Tuensang and Zunheboto districts to extend their full support to the District Executive Force in the fight against anti-social activities.

“The main concern of our forces (Nagaland Police) is to curb criminal acts and crime detection, to prevent drug menace and create peaceful environment in the society,” said Patton during the virtual inauguration programme of the new office buildings of Commandant, 3rd NAP Battalion Tuensang and Superintendent of Police Zunheboto at PHQ Kohima on August 7.

This year, the Nagaland Police’s ‘War on Drugs’ ensured 26 cases being registered under the NDPS act leading to arrests of approximately 40 persons and proactive policing ensuring improved security scenario through high detection under NDPS & NLTP, Patton said. 42 people were also arrested under the NLTP Act.

The Deputy Chief Minister informed that district policing has made significant progress through community centric efforts which ensured that case registration (102 cases) has improved to an all time high in 10 years for a period of 7 months. Overall 114 cases have been registered in the last 9 months (highest in last 12 years).

Due to proactive policing, law and order situation and episodes of violence have been brought down significantly this calendar year which has resulted in 2 PS jurisdictions coming out of the purview of AFSPA, Patton added.
